August 06, 2003
Maui_cool
We have finished five more of the MCM1 tracks for your racing pleasure. You can grab them
here or go to the MCM1
Conversions page and www.mauicool.org. The track pictures that you see are the original track pictures from MCM1 and do not
represent the look of the converted versions remade by the TD members & collaborators.

Airborne Delivery by Maui_cool:
One of the best of the MCM1 Stock Nationals, this track doesn't have a lot of jumps but it
will surely keep you on your toes as you scream down this "canyon style" Nat. Don't touch the
walls or you'll get launched. The AI will give you a good race on this one also.
|
|
Flatlands
by OCR_DirtFool:
This one has a fairly simple layout but has some nice timing sections. DirtFool did a great job on this remake, adding a good amount of vegetation to give a good MCM2 feel to a tight competitive track.
|
|
SkyLab
by Fixer:
Fixer did a good job on this track which was first released for MCM2 almost immediately after MCM2 went on sale but got a "new millinium" face lift. The vegetation makes it so you cannot venture off the track like the older versions and hides the landing area on the big finish jump - a great fast & fun short track.
|
|
SkyLane
by X_Racer:
This stock MCM1 track was also included in the trial version, where it got a lot of use by people just learning about the game - myself included. A good track with some big air and tricky cornering sections to keep your concentration. X_Racer(Scott) screams around this one at about a 30 second clip.

Enjoy!

Original Rainbow MCM1 Track Remakes - UNLEASHED! -
June 09, 2003
X_xracer
What a treat this is people! The TD crew has been hard at work adapting
the MCM1 Originals for MCM2. We got special permission from the 'powers
that be' to do this after one of our resident genius' created a way
to do this with relative ease.
I won't ramble too much, but this is awesome in my opinion. These
tracks started it all for me. I played them nonstop until I found
out about the Zone and the fan sites. I am sure many others will share
my enthusiasm. So...click here
to grab all the tracks we've completed to date. More to come...rest
assured.
A special thanks to Bruce for dreaming this up and getting permission
from Robb. Thanks to Jesse for the template we used for the track
image, Mike McCue for the animated sign and Fixer for the finish gate you see
on the tracks.
Enjoy!

Public Forums Reopened...sort of! -
May 10, 2003
X_xracer
As you can see, the forums are back. We don't want any reason to close
them again. We want these boards to serve their intended purpose;
To be a place where MCM enthusiasts can learn, teach, and share information
that will make this game all it can be. We have already done things
once thought impossible...there is surely more to come!
UPDATE: Registration for the forums is closed indefinitely.
No more new users until further notice. Moronic behavior by none other
than "C---tR" (suprised?) has forced us to prohibit new
members from registering.
To the rest of the members...PLEASE MIND YOUR MANNERS!!!

Public Forums Closed until further notice! -
May 4, 2003
X_xracer
Well...due to some unnecessary b/s on the boards. It has been decided
that the public sections of the Twisted DIRT forums be shut down.
This might be temporary, it might be permanent. It's a shame that
this has to affect people who visit the boards to give and receive
quality help. We are sorry about this guys...but it needed to happen.
These forums are designed to provide a place for people to give help,
receive help, and extend the life of the best (imho) PC game on the
planet. They are not intended to fight, flame people, or act in an
immature manner. To the offenders, you know who you are, may you find
peace and happiness somewhere else.

New Nationals Track:
TD Tiny Tricks Twist Twist by mike_mccue -
April 08, 2003
mike_mccue
TD Tiny Tricks Twist is a very compact
track with twisty narrow lanes. The track is set in a sinkhole hidden
in the middle of a nasty beat-up mismanaged farming area. The area
has been used for Pine tree farming for several harvests and now the
soil is completely barren and nearly devoid of life. The sinkhole
has survived as an oasis in the middle of all this because it was
just plain easier to avoid harvesting the trees that were protected
by the rocks, crevices and jungle like growth.
Luckily the Twisted DIRT boys have found out about this
hidden gem and now we have a great little private playground to test
our best riding skills. Get out the brush guards and spray on some
insect repellent... this track is for the tough guys out there.
Look for a 35 second lap, but to get there you
will need to practice this course and find the one true groove. This
is a home boys track. You have to own it to ride it fast. Its great
for racing... a 10 sec lead doesn't mean much until the race is over.
Any one can loose control at any time here. The course will keep you
honest. Find yourself behind? Keep riding... there is no telling what
can happen. You may find the leader laying on the side of trail before
it is all over.
I have included a smooth 37 second ghost lap to give
you something to start racing against. Go get em :-)
This track is a continuation of my exploration into extremely
small MCM2 track designs. I am very interested in the way that the
small track prevents a build up of unrealistic speed. I think this
forces a rider to really push the limits of the MCM2 bike physics
and get a handle on cotrolling the bike with Brakes, gyro, etc. Who
knows... its just an idea I am working with.
The nature sounds are from my private collection of field
recordings. They are from Corkscrew Swamp National Sanctuary (the
Audobon Society's private sanctuary in SW Florida) and the Apalachicola
National Forest in NW Florida. I hope you enjoy the ambience they
provide.
I want to especially thanks Laurie (mcm2_boys)
for working really hard to debug the sound placement and packing features
in Dillo Too. I could not have finished the track
without your dedication and help. Thanks Laurie.
I
hope you enjoy riding this track.
thanks, Mike McCue

TD Making Tracks by Fixer -
Feb, 26 2003
mike_mccue
This
is Fixer's entry for the 2003 AMA_Dirttwister Nationals Track Design
Contest. The track features the first ever use of Dillo Too to
get the trains we all saw in the stock enduro tracks working in custom
track designs. Fixer, MCM_Nut, and mcm2_boys spent many
hours getting this to work. Fixer just would not give up and the results
are, well.... perfect. The train animation is incredibly smooth. Its
a blast to race alongside the rolling stock. Whats is that thing a
5kc? I hope to see lots more train tracks now that the method has
been worked out.
I hope you enjoy,

MCM1 Tracks Revived for MCM2: -
February 12, 2003
X_xracer
Exciting things are happening and Twisted DIRT people! You are about
to be taken back to the days of old. The game that started it all,
Motocross Madness, has been the source of inspiration for a couple
genious members of Twisted DIRT. So...mcm2boys (Laurie) has made it
possible to convert MCM1 tracks to work in MCM2.
This leads us to the 1st two publicly released tracks for MCM1, revived
for MCM2. Swiss Moss and Machkeu Basin were two of the most popular
MCM1 tracks, and now they are available for MCM2! Kamshaft and Six2Studios
have given us these two tracks to enjoy for the best motocross game
on the planet (in my opinion)!
In the very near future, you will be able
to download the entire collection of the original Rainbow MCM tracks
right here at Twisted DIRT. Stay tuned folks!
Get Swiss Moss here,
and Machkeu Basin here!

New Bike Models and an updated BikeSwitcher: -
February, 8 2003
AMA_DirtTwister
The TD crew has been hard at work on new utilities
and bike models. Today you can finally get the 2003 YZ bike made by
AUS_Rocket and the YZ250F made by fraser. MCMNut has made available
an 80 size bike model and a Monster Bike which everyone has to try
at least once. With the additonal experimentation of one of our newest
TD members (Extreme) we have got some new toys that go beyond motocross.
Thanks to the guys over at Skins
Xtreme who gave us a snowmobile model and Extreme who made it
work in the game, we now have a snowmobile to play with. Skins
Xtreme will be making up new skins for the snowmobile so keep
checking there. Extreme also has come up with a Quad that works extremely
well considering that it is really a two wheeled motorcycle.
These new models are not SLT files. They are a new
type of file with more functionality called PKG for package. BikeSwitcher
will no longer support SLT files. If you downloaded the Hillclimber
and Mini you will need to download the new PKG versions.
Here is the new BikeSwitcher (ver 1.2):

AMA_DirtTwister
Happy New Year
everyone. We have a surprise for you. Here are some comments from Jeff:
"Happy New Year!! I hope you all have had a safe
one and I'm glad you're all still here enjoying MCM2 and MxMania!
Well, the new year is upon us and times are a changing.
To celebrate this we are offering some significant "MCM2 Enhancements"
to ring in the new year. The first of which include a new utility
and a couple of new bike models: a Hill Climber and Mini bike. With
the aid of Bruce's (AMA_DirtTwister) new BikeSwitcher utility, it
is now possible to ride custom bikes in MCM2! These bikes came about
through painstaking trial and error and a lot of assistance from Laurie
(mcm2boys) and Bruce. Through this collaboration of efforts I was
able to find a way to remodel the original bikes. I hope you find
them as much as a blast to ride as I do.
These are but a sample of what's ahead. We plan to
offer a variety of new bikes being developed by some of TD's finest
3D modelers. Many more "enhancements" are being planned for the future.
It is still unclear how it will all pan out but rest assured it will
lead to further enjoyment of an already great game! Stay tuned so
you don't miss out on all the fun! " Jeff (MCMNut)
